GRIS – Juliana Cortes and Mateus Porto

In 2025, The renowned Brazilian singer and songwriter Juliana Cortes arrives in Argentina to present the show GRIS, within the framework of the Córdoba International Jazz Festival.
The concert celebrates the 10 years of the album GRIS — a work acclaimed by critics and considered one of the most sophisticated works of new Brazilian music — in an unreleased version for voice and guitar, where poetry, improvisation and jazz intertwine with a unique subtlety. Partially recorded in Buenos Aires, The album featured the participation of Diego Schissi on piano, Santiago Segret on bandoneon, John Paul (contrabajo) y Paulinho Moska. At its launch, was chosen the sixth best Brazilian music album in Japan (Latin Magazine). for this job, Juliana performed on stages in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and South Korea, at world music and jazz festivals.
A poetics of gray: On scene, Juliana Cortes proposes a sound journey through the nuances of “gray”: a space where light and dark coexist, where the song merges with improvisation and where the border between popular music and jazz becomes blurred. GRIS not only celebrates a decade of artistic career, but also a creative alliance that has known how to transform subtlety into poetic power.
A dialogue between Brazil and the Río de la Plata With a sound that crosses borders and genres, GRIS establishes an artistic bridge between Brazil, Argentina y Uruguay. The disk, partially recorded in Buenos Aires, had the participation of Diego Schissi (piano), Santiago Segret (bandoneón) y Paulinho Moska, plus musicians from Curitiba and São Paulo. Produced by Dante Ozzetti, reference to the avant-garde of São Paulo, The album was chosen as the sixth best Brazilian music album in Japan (Latin Magazine) and took Juliana to stages in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and South Korea, at world music and jazz festivals.
On this new tour, Cortes and Porto revisit GRIS' compositions from an intimate perspective, exploring the relationship between the poetic word and the freedom of jazz. The repertoire includes works by Paulo Leminski, Vitor Ramil, Leo Minax, Estrela Leminski and Arrigo Barnabé, entre otros, and reveals the aesthetic search that characterizes Juliana's career: an artist who transforms popular songs into a space for sound experimentation.
