Matías Tozzola (guitar 7 strings)
Horacio Cacoliris (Percussion)
guest voice: Florencia Dávalos
The duo made up of guitarist Matías Tozzola and percussionist Horacio Cacoliris began at the end of 2019 with the aim of addressing a repertoire dedicated to Argentine music, versioning the work of great references such as "Cuchi" Leguizamón, Falú-Dévelos, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Ariel Ramirez and Raul Carnota (entre otros) with a personal and innovative aesthetic and making this repertoire coexist with the members' own compositions, also focused on the music of the different regions of our country..
REVIEW “NORTHERN”
“northerners” It is the first of that series of albums in short format with which the duo intends to interpret music of different species and genres of Argentine music.. As the name implies, in this case the music comes from the north of our country, specifically the Northwest: Vidala, Huayno and Cueca. But the species here are flexible frameworks within which the musicians develop flowery narratives in a range of possibilities that includes both punctilious arrangements and free improvisation. (such is the case of 2 versions of “Vidala of the Namer”).
Being the guitar and percussion emblematic instruments of Argentine folklore, in “northerners” musicians take over tradition to try new possibilities and risks, revealing the search for a language of its own.
